Antoni Maiovvi

Antoni Maiovvi is the nom de plume of British experimental composer Anton Maiof now located in the bohemian mecca of Berlin. Informed by a love of Italian horror soundtracks, HiNRG and italo, he has commanded audiences all over Europe with his bizarre, twisted but dancefloor oriented take on mutant cosmic disco. He has released records through Seed, Caravan, Cyber Dance and Kompakt's sister label Fright. Antoni Maiovvi's music is akin to the overwhelming horror of the stalked. The sound of dimly lit streets where everyone is at risk. A place of supernatural existential terror where the lines of reality become that of opium blurs. Operating from spaces previously occupied by Goblin, Tangerine Dream, Patrick Cowley and John Carpenter, under the pseudonym Antoni Maiovvi, British experimental composer Anton Maiof (Geisha / Defibrillators) has been creating psychotronic disco for the criminally insane since 2005 having emerged from the UK's underground noise scene, here presenting retro-futurist b-movie soundtracks with the precision and flair of an Argento death sequence...

Gluttony

Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony (Latin, gula) is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered a sin because of the excessive desire for food or its withholding from the needy.

Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. Where food is relatively scarce, being able to eat well might be something to take pride in. But in an area where food is routinely plentiful, it may be considered a sign of self-control to resist the temptation to over-indulge.

Medieval church leaders (e.g., Thomas Aquinas) took a more expansive view of gluttony, arguing that it could also include an obsessive anticipation of meals, and the constant eating of delicacies and excessively costly foods. Aquinas went so far as to prepare a list of six ways to commit gluttony, including:

Praepropere - eating too soon.
Laute - eating too expensively.
Nimis - eating too much.
Ardenter - eating too eagerly (burningly).
Studiose - eating too daintily (keenly).
Forente - eating wildly (boringly).

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
You'll be punished in Hell by being force-fed rats, toads, and snakes.
Gluttony is linked with the pig and the color orange.

Introduction

Mirage are conceptual parties, which take place once a month. Created as an idea in the summer of 2010 in Athens by night, while drinking cocktails, and were held in November of the same year.

Booking agent and resident DJ of Mirage is Methi, who is responsible for the musical identity of the party which follows, as expected, obscure and italo disco directions with horror and funk references, has clearly the disco style and likes to close the 70s and the 80s with an aspect of futurism.

Besides music, the party strongly highlights the fashion element. For each party, there is a photo and a video shooting, based on a certain concept, which is, for this year, the "Seven Deadly Sins". The purpose of these shootings  is to serve the party promotionally and present the work of the artists.

Mirage has been phorographed by Spyros Droussiotis, Lydia Dimitriadi, George Malekakis and Alice in Wonderland, has been dressed by Theodora Provopoulou (THEIA), Apostolos Mitropoulos and Sotiris Georgiou and  Kassandra Powell  is now the director of the  videos.

After completing all seven parties, all photos and videos will be displayed in a showcase titled "Saints and Sinners", where also the next concept will be presented.

Big thanks to Mahos Paterakis for the artwork and graphic design, Define Make Up Team, all the DJs and those who cooperated and will cooperate with Mirage.
